Welcome to Soothing Soles Holistic Therapies

Hi, I’m Jo — a Level 5 Clinical Reflexologist and Holistic Therapist with over 20 years of experience.

I run Soothing Soles Holistic Therapies from my peaceful, calming treatment room in Heckington. If it’s more convenient, I also offer mobile appointments, depending on your location — just get in touch and I can find what works best for you.

I’m genuinely passionate about health, wellbeing and helping people feel better in themselves. I truly believe in the power of holistic therapies, especially reflexology. Over the years, I’ve seen how it can ease stress, encourage deep relaxation, restore balance and support the body’s natural ability to heal.

My goal is always to provide professional, individualised treatments that nurture both body and mind — helping you feel your best in a caring, grounded and down-to-earth way.

A Space Just for You

When you step into my treatment room, it’s all about you — a safe, calming space where you can truly switch off from life’s demands. Think of it as your personal sanctuary: a place to relax, recharge, and allow your body and mind to reset. You’ll leave feeling lighter, more balanced, and deeply cared for.

At Soothing Soles, I believe wellbeing should be simple and accessible. No matter your age, background, or where you are in life, you deserve the time and space to focus on yourself. Whether you’re looking to relax, relieve stress, or restore balance, I’m here to support you — not just physically but emotionally and mentally too.

Specialist Support

I continue to grow and develop my practice through ongoing training. I’ve recently begun a Diploma in Reflexology for Cancer Support, deepening my ability to support those undergoing or recovering from cancer treatment and their families. This training is helping me provide safe, compassionate and tailored care — including gentle techniques like encouraging “shy” veins to make blood tests or cannulation a little easier and less stressful.

I’m also certified in palliative reflexology, offering calming, adapted treatments that improve quality of life for individuals living with serious or chronic illnesses and their families.

How I can Help

I’m passionate about providing a calm, nurturing space for busy and overwhelmed individuals — a place to pause, breathe, and restore balance. Whether you're navigating:

  • Tension
  • Stress
  • Anxiety
  • Sleep difficulties
  • Fatigue
  • Low mood

…or simply need time to reset, I’m here to support you. This list isn’t exhaustive — your wellbeing is unique and so is the care you’ll receive.

Supporting my clients is a true privilege and I feel honoured every day to do the work I love.

Curious about how reflexology could support you? Have a look around and explore my services — or just get in touch.

If you're unsure whether reflexology is right for you, I warmly invite you to reach out. You might be surprised by the difference a little time out — and the gentle power of reflexology — can make.

Thank you for considering Reflexology with me. I look forward to meeting you and supporting your well-being.

-Jo

Your time, your treatment

When you book a session with me, you’re booking my time — not a fixed treatment. This gives us the freedom to tailor each session to what you need on the day — whether that’s a full reflexology treatment, a blend of techniques, or something completely different.

Reflexology is at the heart of what I offer and many clients come just for that. But if you’d like, we can also incorporate aromatherapy, Indian head massage, guided imagery, or other relaxation techniques — creating a treatment that’s as unique as you are. All for one simple, inclusive price.

£80 – Ultimate Relaxation Session (up to 90 minutes)

A deeply relaxing, calming and unhurried treatment — using reflexology and other holistic therapies. Ideal when you're feeling depleted, overwhelmed, or simply in need of a full-body reset.

£65 – Extended Session (up to 75 minutes)

A longer therapeutic treatment tailored to your needs on the day. Whether you’d like focused reflexology or a combination of techniques, this is perfect if you’d like more time to slow down, unwind, and reconnect.

£45 – Restorative Reflexology & Holistic Therapies (up to 60 minutes)

A full, personalised treatment to support your physical, mental and emotional wellbeing. Grounded in reflexology, your session may also include aromatherapy, Indian head massage, or guided imagery — depending on what’s most supportive for you on the day. Creating space for deep relaxation and whole-body balance.

£30 – Stress-Busting Session (30 minutes)

A focused treatment to help calm your nervous system and ease stress or tension. Choose reflexology, Indian head massage, or a short blend — ideal when you need a quick reset.

£20 – Reflexology Taster (20 minutes)

A gentle introduction to reflexology — perfect if you’re new, curious, or simply short on time. A soothing, focused treatment to give you a taste of what reflexology can offer.

If you're unsure what might suit you best, feel free to get in touch — I'm happy to help you find the option that’s right for you.

Please note: Treatments that include aromatherapy oils will incur a small additional charge to cover the cost of bespoke blends. I’ll always discuss this with you in advance, so there are no surprises.

Payment

Payments to be made by bank transfer and should be made in advance of the treatment at the time of booking. Cash payments also accepted.

Payments in advance are required for gift vouchers or block bookings.

Cancellations

Whilst I understand that it is sometimes necessary to cancel your appointment, I would ask that you give as much notice as possible so that your appointment may be offered to some else. Cancellations of less than 24 hours notice may be subject to a cancellation fee of 50% of the price of your treatment. If you are a no show and do not make contact prior to advise me of your cancellation, cancellation fees will apply and full payment kept.

Treatments

Restorative Reflexology & Holistic Therapies

Your first session begins with a brief but thoughtful consultation, where I take time to understand your health history, lifestyle and any specific concerns you may have. This helps me provide the most supportive and personalised treatment, tailored to your unique needs.

At the start of your session, I may gently invite you to use simple breathing techniques to help you move into a deeper state of relaxation. The treatment begins by soothing the feet and ankles with gentle massage and manipulation, warming the tissues and encouraging healthy circulation.

From there, you’ll receive a treatment that responds to your body in the moment, drawing primarily on reflexology and, where helpful, incorporating other gentle modalities such as aromatherapy, Indian head massage, or guided imagery. Each technique is selected to support your physical and emotional wellbeing. The session concludes with balancing techniques to help you leave feeling grounded, relaxed, and restored.

For each follow-up session, we’ll begin with a quick check-in to see how you’ve been and what you need on the day, so your treatment continues to reflect your changing needs.

When appropriate, I offer lifestyle suggestions and holistic aftercare advice to gently support your wellbeing between sessions.

Aroma-Reflexology

"Aromatherapy is a caring hands-on therapy which seeks to induce relaxation, to increase energy, to reduce the effects of stress and to restore the lost balance to mind body and soul." Robert Tisserand.

Aroma Reflexology combines two deeply therapeutic treatments to add an extra dimension to your reflexology session. This offers a double opportunity to help shift long-term symptoms and conditions, and promotes physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.

To optimize the benefits of aroma-reflexology, please expect to commit to a minimum of 3 reflexology treatments in addition to using the cream at home.

Some oils are NOT suitable for certain conditions, so it is important to list all diagnoses and current medical treatment.

Reflexology for Perimenopause and Menopause

Supporting Women Through Hormonal Change

Are you feeling fatigued, struggling to get a good night’s sleep, dealing with brain fog, or experiencing frequent hot flushes? These could all be signs that your hormones are undergoing significant changes. While this transition can feel challenging, it doesn’t have to be a negative experience. In fact, it can be an opportunity to pause, reframe and approach this time with a positive mindset.

One of my recent specialisms is Reflexology for Menopause, designed to support women through peri-menopause and menopause. This treatment focuses on balancing the endocrine system, helping ease hormonal shifts and emotional fluctuations.

These gentle but effective sequences offer support precisely where it's needed. If you are looking for a little extra support, I can also include:

  • An Anxiety Relief sequence – designed to ease feelings of overwhelm, calm the nervous system and promote a sense of peace
  • A Lymphatic Drainage sequence – to soothe and balance, reduce fluid retention and relieve aches and discomfort

Bespoke aromatherapy blends can also be included to further enhance your treatment.

Clients have already shared encouraging feedback, with comments like “I feel more able to cope.”

Alongside Reflexology, there are many other ways to support the natural shift from perimenopause to menopause.

Reflexology for Andropause Support

What isn’t often talked about—but is equally important—is the natural decline in testosterone that many men experience as they age. This transition, known as andropause (sometimes called the ‘male menopause’), typically occurs around middle age and can have a significant impact on wellbeing.

When combined with major life changes or emotional challenges, this shift can lead to symptoms such as fatigue, irritability and increased anxiety or low mood.

Unfortunately, the symptoms of andropause are often overlooked or misunderstood, which can be deeply concerning. Some men may begin to feel as though there’s something ‘wrong’ with them, when in reality, these changes are a natural part of the aging process.

Natural and complementary therapies, such as reflexology, can offer meaningful support during this time and serve as a catalyst for positive change.

Reflexology for Children/Teens

This gentle, non-invasive therapy can help younger children/teenagers sleep more soundly, feel more relaxed and experience an improved sense of emotional balance. The deeply calming nature of reflexology often leaves young people feeling rejuvenated, refreshed and better equipped to cope with the pressures of daily life.

Reflexology offers a wide range of benefits for teenagers, from supporting mood and hormone balance to promoting overall wellbeing. It’s also a powerful tool for managing stress, especially during challenging times like exam season.

Functional Reflex Therapy (FRT)

A unique and transformative approach to reflexology that goes beyond the touch.

What is FRT?

Functional Reflex Therapy (FRT) is a nurturing and innovative form of reflexology developed by Lorraine Senior. Drawing from her extensive experience in schools, FRT was originally designed to support the emotional well-being of young people with additional and diverse needs, particularly those experiencing:

  • High levels of anxiety
  • Communication challenges

This therapy encourages a meaningful connection that fosters calm, trust, and relaxation.

Why FRT Works

The effectiveness and passion behind FRT have exceeded expectations, with the approach continuously evolving. Today, its core principles are applied in multiple supportive pathways, bringing therapeutic benefits to the wider community.

Who Can Benefit

FRT is not only for young people—it can be deeply beneficial for individuals with dementia and others seeking emotional support.

Key benefits may include:

  • Promoting relaxation
  • Reducing anxiety and agitation
  • Improving circulation
  • Enhancing emotional well-being
  • Supporting better sleep and mood balance

More Than a Technique—A Holistic Support Model

FRT is more than a therapy—it's a growing movement toward inclusive, compassionate care. Whether in schools, care homes, or community settings, it offers a gentle yet powerful way to connect and heal.

Reflexology for Elderly Loved Ones

Reflexology offers a gentle, nurturing touch that brings comfort and calm to elderly loved ones, whether they are living at home or in a care setting. This soothing therapy can help reduce stress, improve circulation, and enhance mental clarity, especially for those living with dementia. Beyond physical benefits, it fosters a deep sense of connection, peace and emotional well-being, contributing to a better quality of life in later years.

Reflexology Lymph Drainage (RLD)

Reflexology Lymph Drainage (RLD) is an award-winning technique that targets the lymphatic reflexes in the feet to help stimulate and support the body’s lymphatic system. Developed by Sally Kay BSc (Hons) while working in cancer care, RLD uses a unique, carefully designed sequence to mirror the benefits of Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) massage.

This gentle, non-invasive reflexology technique involves applying precise pressure to specific lymphatic reflexes on the feet or hands, promoting natural lymphatic flow and supporting overall wellness.

NEPIP

NEPIP (Neuro-Endo-Psycho-Immuno-Pody) is an advanced reflexology protocol that works more deeply with the reflexes linked to the body’s core control systems. This technique may also include intention setting and breathing techniques, enhancing its therapeutic impact.

It’s a unique treatment, where both feet are worked on simultaneously, offering a deeply relaxing and restorative experience. NEPIP is ideal for revitalising and restoring the mind, body, and spirit and is particularly effective in relieving stress, anxiety and supporting mental health wellbeing.

Neuro-Endo-Psycho-Immuno-Pody refers to the scientific connection between the brain and nervous system (Neurology), the endocrine system (Endocrinology)—via the hypothalamus—and how these affect our psychological health (Psychology) through the immune system (Immunology). All of this is reflected in the feet (Pody).

Hand Reflexology

A gentle and nurturing technique, hand reflexology involves the precise manipulation of reflex points on the hands to support the mind, body, and spirit. By applying targeted pressure, this treatment encourages deep relaxation, promotes a soothing, calming effect and helps restore a sense of balance and wellbeing throughout the entire body.

It is particularly beneficial for those living with everyday aches and pains, helping to ease tension and bring gentle relief in a natural, supportive way.

Indian Head Massage

Indian Head Massage is a deeply calming and restorative treatment that focuses on the head, neck, shoulders and upper arms — areas where we commonly hold tension and stress. Using a combination of rhythmic movements, pressure point techniques and gentle massage, this therapy helps to ease muscle tension, boost circulation and support mental clarity.

It’s particularly helpful for those experiencing stress, headaches, or sleep disturbances and offers a sense of emotional release while promoting overall balance and relaxation. You’ll leave feeling lighter, clearer and more grounded.

What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is a non-invasive complementary health therapy that can be effective in promoting deep relaxation and wellbeing; by reducing stress in people’s lives can be key in optimising good health and building resilience. It is a touch therapy that is based on the theory that different points on the feet, lower leg, hands, face or ears correspond with different areas of the body and reflexologists work these points and areas.

It provides a period of time for relaxation where a client has one to one attention and an empathetic listening environment. Reflexology can be used safely alongside standard healthcare to promote better health for clients.

What is the main theory behind Reflexology?

That all the systems and organs of the whole body are mirrored or reflected in smaller peripheral areas, for example the feet, hands, ears and face. These can be seen in relation to the feet below:

A reflexologist works these reflected areas with their fingers, aiming to bring those areas back to balance and aiding the body to work as well as it can. Reflexology works on an individual basis and the reflexologist provides professional facilitation of your body’s own potential for well-being.

History of Reflexology

The art of reflexology dates back to Ancient Egypt, India and China, although this therapy was not introduced to the West until Dr William Fitzgerald developed ‘Zone therapy’ in the early 1900s. He believed that reflex areas on the feet and hands were linked to other areas and organs of the body within the same zone.

In the 1930s, the mother of Reflexology (Ingham) developed Zone therapy into what is now known as Reflexology. She believed that congestion or tension in any part of the foot is mirrored in the corresponding part of the body.

Is Reflexology suitable for me?

Reflexology can be received by anyone at any age, from new-born babies to those receiving end of life care, and everyone in between. However, occasionally, there may be times when it is not suitable to provide a treatment. The best way to find out if it is right for you, is to contact me by email or phone 07395 387303, where I will be more than happy to help.

Please note: Reflexology should not be used as an alternative to seeking medical advice.

Want to find out how my Reflexology treatments can benefit you?

Will Reflexology help me?

Any well-trained reflexologist, will not claim to cure, diagnose or prescribe. Reflexology is a very individual treatment which is tailored to you as a whole person, taking into account both physical and non-physical factors that might be affecting your wellbeing. The best way to find out is to try it!

Essentially, it is believed that reflexology helps the body to restore its balance naturally. Usually after a treatment, your tension may be reduced and you might feel relaxed. You may also notice you sleep better and find your mood and sense of well-being improve. Other aspects may also improve too but this happens on an individual basis.

FAQs

How many treatments will I need?

Everyone is different and the response to Reflexology can be immediate or sometimes take longer than one appointment, but often benefits can be seen after 4-5 sessions. Regular weekly treatments are best for the body properly beginning the self-healing process, and following an initial consultation I will suggest the number of Reflexology sessions I think we should undertake.

What happens in a treatment?

Reflexology is performed entirely on the feet, ankles or hands, so the most you’ll have to do is take off your socks and roll up your trousers! During the treatment the client lies on their back on a reclining chair, supported by pillows and covered with a soft blanket to keep them warm.

And don’t worry - reflexology doesn't tickle! Many clients come to me with ticklish feet or worried about their feet being touched, but find they can relax and enjoy the benefits of Reflexology.

Does reflexology hurt?

You might find some areas feel sensitive to the touch, but Reflexology does not involve hard pressing in the way something like a sports massage might. As a therapist I will be aware of the status of your feet, noticing how they feel, the temperature and colour. All these things play a part in understanding which areas of your body - as reflected through your feet - require a bit more care and attention.

Can you diagnose my health problems?

Reflexologists cannot claim to diagnose or cure, but during a treatment we get 'feedback' as to which parts of the body are working well and which are not. Sometimes Reflexology will highlight a specific area which is struggling or working hard to maintain your wellbeing; if a particular reflex point shows this kind of reaction I'll discuss it with you at the end of the session.

Where are you located?

My treatment room is located in Heckington, Lincolnshire. Serving Sleaford, Boston, Ancaster, Coningsby, Tattershall, Woodhall Spa, Kirton, Frampton, Wyberton, Folkingham, Rippingale, Bourne, Billinghay, Greylees, Quarrington, Ruskington, North & South Rauceby, Walcott, Silk Willoughby, Aslackby, Leasingham, Cranwell, Grantham, North Kyme, South Kyme, Swaton, Fulbeck, Caythorpe, Helpringham, Cliff Villages, Horbling

Can I keep on having reflexology?

After an initial course of treatments many people choose to check in monthly for a top-up, to help maintain their general wellbeing, or as a scheduled 'de-stress'. Other clients will get back in touch if they start feeling aches and pains, arranging treatments as and when they need them.

About Me

My journey with reflexology began over 30 years ago during a holiday in Cornwall. I experienced my first treatment—and instantly fell in love with how it made me feel. The deep sense of calm and connection stayed with me and from that moment on, I was hooked. While working a busy 9–5 office job, I continued receiving regular treatments, drawn again and again to the way reflexology helped me feel more balanced and grounded.

Over time, my passion grew so strong that I knew I wanted to explore it more deeply. I enrolled at my local college and completed a year-long Level 3 Diploma in Holistic Therapies, where my love for reflexology truly took root. The course also included training in Indian Head Massage and Aromatherapy, giving me a broader foundation in therapeutic touch and holistic wellbeing.

Fifteen years later, life had grown even fuller—I was raising a daughter and triplet sons. Once they were a little older, I followed my heart and turned my passion into a profession. I set up my own reflexology practice, determined to create a space for others to experience the same benefits I had.

I also made a commitment to deepen my skills and offer the best possible care. That path led me to The Anahata College in Lincoln, one of the UK’s most respected reflexology schools. There, I completed the Level 5 Diploma in Practitioner Reflexology, the highest qualification currently available in the field.

My training included a wide range of specialist techniques, such as NEPIP, Hand Reflexology, and Duopody, as well as focused modules in maternity and palliative care.

Now, with years of experience and advanced training behind me, I’m honoured to support others through the incredible benefits of reflexology—just as I was supported all those years ago.
